OBEL: Occupant Behaviour and Energy Laboratory
Occupant response, behaviour, and well-being
If you have all the answers, what else is there to learn? But the search for human behaviour is infinite; you'll never understand it all. I just think that's wonderful. - Uta Hagen.

Professor

Geun Young Yun is a building scientist working in the area of the design, operation, and evaluation of sustainable buildings. He is Assistant Professor at Department of Architectural Engineering of Kyung Hee University, Korea. He obtained his BEng and MEng degrees from Chung Ang University. His MEng work developed a Computational Fluid Dynamics program for the evaluation of indoor thermal environment. He then worked as an environmental consultant for sustainable building design in both Korea and UK. His technical skills and insights into “Environmental Design in Architecture” were matured during his MPhil study at the University of Cambridge.

His PhD work at Cambridge University is a critical, new component of developing the understanding of the environmental performance of building with respect to the role of human agency. He has published a series of academic papers for international referred journals, which have gained international recognition and have cemented his profile as a top academic in the field of human behaviour and environment performance.

At Kyung Hee University, he is leading the Occupant Behaviour and Energy Laboratory (OBEL, Web: obel.khu.ac.kr), set up in 2010. OBEL has carried research into adaptive comfort, occupant behaviour, the energy-efficiency and renewable energy potentials of buildings and urban space, the health performance of buildings, urban climatic maps.
